Blue wool poncho

Blue wool poncho

Blue woven wool poncho

Handcrafted by Rafaela Salas from Tlaquilpa, Veracruz who is part of the collective “Women weavers of Zongolica, Veracruz, Mexico”

One month of weaving and preparing the wool, then it was woven in the loom.

Length: 80cm

100% pure wool obtained from domestic sheep, therefore very warm and biodegradable.

15% of the profits will go to the project “Documentation of traditional knowledge of Zongolica, Veracruz”

The process of collecting wool, weaving and dyeing with mountain plants, is an entirely natural, sustainable and traditional way of craftsmanship of the region, mainly developed by women.

This traditional skill disappears because people leave to find a job that gives them more money to survive. Crafts are disappearing in many places in Mexico because they are underestimated and poorly paid.

* Dry cleaning is preferable, but you can wash it in a washing machine with cold water (natural dye does not support hot water)

* Pure wool can cause skin irritation, we advise you to wear a piece of clothing under the woolen piece, turtleneck, shirt or other. Wool pieces store heat, so very warm, perfect for winter.

Watch how these pieces are created here.
