Huipil cadenilla rose

Huipil embroidered in “cadenilla” technique by Bordados Ambaa de San Juan Guichicovi, Oaxaca, Mexico.

The technique of “cadenilla” is used by the Zapotec people of the state of Oaxaca, more widespread in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, to embroider the traditional Huipils worn by the women of this Mexican state.

This Huipil is embroidered with three rows of “Cadenilla de tres golpes” embroidery in 20 days using a pedal machine. Every three seconds aprox. you have to change the direction of the fabric, until you create a zigzag pattern.
