The Mexico is a mosaic of cultures, in which each culture brings the color and history of the roots of all Mexicans. It is to tell this story that this project was born and aims to share these main characteristics. Join us to discover the communities that are collaborating on this project.
In recent years, indigenous communities in Mexico (as in other countries) have been victims of social inequalities related to their development as well as plagiarism or inspiration, better known as "cultural appropriation".
Their embroideries and designs, which are the result of their cosmogony and traditions, are often "copied" by large textile retailers, even though they are neither "artisanal" nor "traditional", and at prices that are often derisory compared to their original equivalent.
This situation of non-respect of cultures and traditions of the Mexican communities for profit increases the social inequalities of the communities because, the foreign or national tourists buy from now on these embroidered pieces in the stores and not from the craftsmen because they are "more expensive".
It was therefore my duty, as a Mexican citizen bathed in the culturalism of Mexico, to share with you the art of Mexican communities and tell you the story of the artists who make each piece and its community of origin because, Behind each piece, there is a face and a story to tell.
